PDP Caretaker Committee Endorses INEC 2027 Election Timetable

The factional Caretaker Committee of the People's Democratic Party (PDP), led by Abdulrahman Moham Samuel Anyanwu, has publicly endorsed the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) 2027 election timetable. The committee issued a statement on Friday, urging party members to remain calm and focused as the electoral season approaches.

INEC's schedule includes party primaries set for May 22 to June 20, 2027, with various elections, including presidential and gubernatorial, slated for February 20 and March 6, 2027, respectively. The committee emphasized its commitment to complying with constitutional and regulatory requirements within the stipulated timelines.

This endorsement occurs amid prolonged internal crises within the PDP, characterized by leadership disputes involving governors such as Seyi Makinde and Bala Moham. The faction led by Nyesom Wike has maintained its position, with Wike and Anyanwu acting as the national chairman and secretary, respectively.

The faction's recognition by INEC has been contested, leading to several court cases, with a judgment expected on February 13.
