Emerse Faé Steps Down as Côte d’Ivoire Head Coach

Emerse Faé officially stepped down as head coach of the Côte d’Ivoire national football team following the expiration of his contract on July 31. The Ivorian Football Federation confirmed this decision, acknowledging Faé's successful tenure that included guiding the Elephants to an Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) title and qualification for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Faé's coaching journey began under challenging circumstances during the 2023 AFCON, where he was appointed on an interim basis after the dismissal of Jean-Louis Gasset. Faé led the team to a remarkable comeback, defeating Senegal, DR Congo, and Nigeria to win the AFCON title.

After this success, he was appointed permanently and further achieved the historic milestone of leading Côte d’Ivoire beyond the group stage of the World Cup for the first time. The federation expressed gratitude for Faé's professionalism and contributions to the national team.
