Falconets Draw Spain and China for 2026 U20 World Cup

The Nigeria U20 Women's National Team, the Falconets, has been drawn into Group F for the 2026 FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup, which will take place in Poland from September 5 to September 27. The Falconets will face Spain, China, and New Caledonia.

They secured their place in the tournament by overcoming Malawi in the African qualification series, winning 3-2 on aggregate. The Falconets have a history of competing against Spain, having faced them twice in previous tournaments, with a notable victory in the group stage of the 2016 tournament in Papua New Guinea.

However, Spain eliminated Nigeria in the quarter-finals in 2018. The Falconets also have a competitive history with China, having met them in the 2006 and 2018 tournaments.

Nigeria has finished as runners-up twice in the FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup, in 2010 and 2014. Preparations for the tournament will intensify with plans for a training camp and international friendly matches.
