Falconets Drawn with Spain, China in U-20 World Cup Group F

The Nigeria U-20 Women's National Team, known as the Falconets, has been placed in Group F for the 2026 FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup, alongside formidable opponents Spain, China, and debutants New Caledonia. The tournament is scheduled to run from September 5 to 27, 2026, in Poland.

The draw for the tournament was held on Thursday, with Spain recognized as a strong contender, having won the title in the 2022 edition in Costa Rica. China, with a rich history in women's football, is also expected to provide a significant challenge.

The Falconets qualified for the tournament after overcoming Malawi in a two-leg tie, winning 2-0 on aggregate. In the return fixture, Malawi's Chinzimu scored twice, leveling the tie, but Nigeria advanced.

The Falconets have previously reached the finals in 2010 and 2014, showcasing their competitive history in the tournament since its introduction in 2002.
