Nigeria Falcons Aim for WAFCON Quarter-Finals Against Egypt

Justine Madugu, the coach of the Nigeria Women's National Football Team, stated that the team will do everything possible to control their destiny at the 2026 WAFCON as they prepare to face Egypt in their final group game. The outcome will determine their advancement to the quarter-finals.

The team, which has won the championship ten times, started the tournament poorly, losing 3-2 to Malawi and then winning 1-0 against Zambia with only ten players. Currently, Nigeria has three points, trailing Malawi, who has six points.

To progress, the Falcons must secure a convincing win against Egypt and hope for a favorable result in the match between Zambia and Malawi. Madugu expressed confidence in the team's ability to succeed, having made several tactical changes in the previous match, including restoring key players like Asisat Oshoala.

He aims to lead the team to defend their title and secure qualification for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Brazil.
