Family of Slain Oyo Teacher Appeals for Remains Recovery

The family of Deacon John Olaley, a teacher killed by terrorists in Oyo State, is pleading with the federal government for the recovery of his remains for a dignified burial. Olaley was one of two teachers killed during an attack on schools in Oriir Local Government Area on May 15, 2026, where seven teachers and 39 pupils were abducted.

His elder brother expressed that they only learned of Olaley's death through a broadcast by Governor Seyi Makinde. The family is requesting the government to recover even skeletal remains for the sake of the deceased's children.

Olaley's widow, heartbroken by the news, has also appealed for educational support for their three children. Following the incident, the Nigerian Senate approved a donation of N10 million to support the families of the victims, including the slain teachers and three soldiers.

The family has not yet received any support from the government.
