Friends and Family Celebrate Dr. Herbert Wigwe's Legacy

Family members, friends, colleagues, and associates of Dr. Herbert Wigwe celebrated his 60th posthumous birthday on Saturday, marking the occasion after his passing on February 9, 2024.

Wigwe, who served as Co-CEO of Access Bank and later Access Holdings, was instrumental in transforming the bank into a leading financial services group in Africa. His legacy includes significant contributions to banking, education, healthcare, and youth development.

Wigwe was a mentor who believed in empowering individuals through opportunities. As Chairman of the Bankers’ Committee, he engaged with government officials and business leaders to address Nigeria's economic challenges.

He founded The HOW Foundation in 2016, which supported educational initiatives, healthcare, and mentorship programs. Notable projects included Wigwe University and the adoption of primary healthcare centers in Rivers State.

His initiatives aimed to foster a new generation of African leaders and encourage young Nigerians to pursue bold solutions.
