Family Appeals for Release of Kidnapped Widow in Kwara

The family of Mosunmola Adekunl, a hearing-impaired widow, is urgently seeking her release after she was kidnapped on March 22, 2026, during a church service at the Evangel Church in Oro Ago District, Ifelodun Local Government Area, Kwara State. Along with seven other worshippers, she was abducted by gunmen.

Joi Bolarin, the Executive Director of the Jibor Foundation, described the ongoing captivity of Adekunl as unacceptable, particularly given her disability. He emphasized the emotional and physical trauma she faces, noting that her inability to hear verbal instructions puts her in greater danger.

Adekunl, already a widow with seven children, is in dire need of rescue, as her family is left without a mother. Rachael Adedokun, her sister, has called on President Bola Tinubu and relevant security agencies to intervene.

The community is suffering from insecurity, with many residents displaced and local businesses affected.
