Fans Celebrate Three Years of Burna Boy's "I Told Them..."

Fans of Nigerian superstar Burna Boy are celebrating the third anniversary of his seventh studio album, "I Told Them...", which was released on August 25, 2023. The album is noted for its blend of Afrobeats, hip-hop, and personal storytelling, featuring collaborations with J. Cole, 21 Savage, Dave, Seyi Vibez, RZA, and GZA.

Upon its release, "I Told Them..." achieved 9.395 million Spotify streams in its first 24 hours, marking the largest first-day streaming debut for an African artist's album on the platform. The album later surpassed 400 million Spotify streams, making Burna Boy the first African artist with three albums ("African Giant," "Love, Damini," and "I Told Them...") to reach this milestone.

It also topped the UK Apple Music Top Albums chart and tied for the highest position by an African act on the US Apple Music Top Albums chart. In Nigeria, the album's songs occupied the entire Top 10 of the Apple Music chart within 12 hours of release.

In October 2023, Burna Boy received a Platinum certification for the album from TurnTable Charts, among other recognitions.
