Father-in-law Remanded Over Widow's Property Dispute

David Omolola, a 63-year-old father-in-law from Lagos, has been arraigned and remanded in police custody for allegedly threatening the life of his late son’s widow, Tosin Omolola. This incident arose from a property dispute that began approximately eight days after the death of his son, Hammed.

Activist Harrison Gwamnishu disclosed the situation on social media, stating that prior to public intervention, Tosin was at risk of losing her late husband's house, car, and other properties. The Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency has taken up the case, which is now before the court.

The charge sheet, signed by Assistant Commissioner of Police Oluwatoyin Kazeem, outlines multiple offenses committed by David Omolola, including threats to kill Tosin and assault. The incidents occurred on July 23 and July 27, 2026, at their residence in Ikorodu, Lagos.

Public attention was drawn to the case when Tosin shared a video on social media expressing her distress over the attempted dispossession by her late husband's family.
