Father-in-law Arrested for Locking Out Widow in Lagos

The Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency confirmed the arrest of a man accused of threatening and intimidating a 28-year-old widow, Tosin, over her late husband's property in Ikorodu. The agency was alerted on Tuesday after a video shared by activist Harrison Gwamnishu went viral, showing Tosin's father-in-law padlocking the gate to the property, preventing her access.

Tosin reported to the agency that she faced threats to her life, physical assault, and intimidation since her husband's death. The agency contacted the Owutu Police Division, which confirmed the arrest of the alleged perpetrator, who is currently in custody as investigations continue.

The agency assured Tosin and her children of the Lagos State Government's commitment to their safety and protection. Gwamnishu expressed gratitude for the agency's intervention and called for the father-in-law to be removed from the house to allow Tosin to mourn her husband peacefully, asserting her legal rights over her late husband's estate.
