Nigeria Aquatics Federation's Fatodu Advocates for Swimming Support

Lekan Fatodu, the President of the Nigeria Aquatics Federation, has expressed concerns that the high costs associated with swimming could impede the development of young talents in Nigeria. He urged stakeholders, including the government, the federation, and parents, to commit more resources to support the sport.

Fatodu made these remarks during the ongoing International Olympic Committee Olympic Solidarity technical coaching course in Lagos, which aims to enhance coaching standards. He highlighted the need for collaboration to attract sponsorship for swimming development programs.

Fatodu noted that the federation is dedicated to providing opportunities for young swimmers and emphasized the importance of identifying and nurturing talent early. Currently, thirty-five Nigerian coaches are participating in the six-day program.

Additionally, Nigeria recently achieved significant success at the Africa Zone 2 Swimming Championships in Dakar, Senegal, winning 35 medals, including 17 gold, 14 silver, and four bronze. Fatodu reiterated that sustained support from stakeholders is essential for advancing Nigeria's swimming talents from grassroots to elite levels.
