FCFMT Matriculates 1,200 Students, Awaits NIMASA Approval

The Federal College of Fisheries and Marine Technology (FCFMT) recently matriculated 1,200 students for the 2025/2026 academic session, a notable increase from the 298 students enrolled in the 2019/2020 session. The Provost, Dr.

Onuoha Chuk, attributed this growth to the initiatives of President Bola Tinubu aimed at aligning the college with the newly established Ministry of Marine and Blue Economy. He expressed gratitude to the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Adegboyega Oyetola, for his support.

The college is currently awaiting approval from the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA) for professional courses, which would prevent students from seeking training abroad at high costs. The college has also acquired a full mission bridge simulator to enhance practical training.

Additionally, the institution awarded scholarships to 14 students across different departments for the 2024/2025 session, marking a commitment to academic excellence.
