FCT Launches Free Rabies Vaccination Campaign

The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) has initiated a free mass rabies vaccination drive, as announced by Dr Dandam Karnak, the Director of Veterinary Services. This announcement was made during a meeting with veterinary and animal health officials at the FCT Veterinary Clinic in Nyanya.

Dr Karnak, representing Comrade Abdullahi Suleiman Ango, the Mandate Secretary of the Agriculture and Rural Development Secretariat, praised the commitment of field officers involved in this public health intervention. He emphasized the importance of discipline and professionalism throughout the vaccination exercise, which is fully funded by the FCTA and will last for two weeks.

Dr Karnak warned that no veterinary or animal health officer should demand or accept payment from pet owners, stating that violations of this directive would lead to disciplinary action. The vaccination campaign aims to strengthen efforts to prevent and control rabies and ensure community participation across the six Area Councils of the FCT.
