Kuje Area Council Launches Anti-Rabies Vaccination Campaign

The Kuje Area Council Administration officially launched an Anti-Rabies Awareness and Free Vaccination campaign aimed at preventing rabies and safeguarding the health of residents and animals within the area council. The flag-off ceremony took place at the council secretariat on Wednesday, showcasing the administration's commitment to public health and responsible animal ownership.

Hon. Danjuma Samuel Shekwolo, the executive chairman of Kuje Area Council, encouraged dog owners to utilize the vaccination exercise and emphasized that prevention is more effective and economical than managing disease outbreaks. He urged traditional rulers and religious bodies to assist in spreading accurate information about the campaign to every household.

Additionally, he called on parents to teach their children about safe interactions with animals and to report any suspected rabies cases or animal bites. Dr. Chinnaemeka Joe-Iruobo, Chairperson of the National Veterinary Medicine Association (NVMA) F.C.T chapter, also urged stakeholders to collaborate in eliminating rabies from Abuja and Nigeria.
