Jiwa Communities Demand Action on Blocked Access Road

Residents of Jiwa in the Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC) have expressed alarm over the blockage of a major access road allegedly caused by a construction company operating in the area. Youth leader Jame Biru Shekwolo stated that the blockage has hindered residents' access to farms, markets, hospitals, and schools.

The community has submitted a petition to the Federal Capital Development Authority (FCDA) seeking urgent government intervention. Shekwolo noted that the closure of the road has exposed residents to criminal attacks, with two individuals, Nasiru Muhammad and Yahaya Abubakar, reportedly killed during separate robbery incidents.

The Director of the Department of Development Control, Bashir Sunusi, received the petition and invited representatives from the involved company to discuss the matter. Abdulnasir Ibrahim, the company's director, responded that the blockage was based on security directives from regulatory agencies, arguing that the road is not part of the original master plan.

He indicated that the road is expected to be constructed by the federal government following further deliberations.
