INEC Allows Commencement of Campaigns for FCT Council Polls

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has authorized political parties and candidates to commence campaigns for the Federal Capital Territory Area Council election scheduled for February. INEC Chairman Sam Olumekun announced that campaign activities can begin but must adhere to electoral guidelines, prohibiting the use of abusive language or physical attacks against opponents.

The campaign period is set to end on February 19, 2026. INEC emphasized the need for peaceful and lawful campaigning, warning against any form of violence or destruction of campaign materials.

This declaration marks the official start of electioneering activities leading up to the FCT Area Council election.
