Low Voter Turnout Observed in FCT AMAC Elections

In the recent elections for the Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC), voter turnout was significantly low across several polling units, particularly at Polling Units 006, 007, and 008 located in the Citi Centre. Reports indicated that voting commenced around 8:30 AM, but by 9:50 AM, only seven people had cast their ballots at Polling Unit 008.

The presiding officer expressed concern over the slow turnout, noting that they were waiting for more residents to participate. Despite the low attendance, electoral materials and voting machines were reported to be functioning smoothly, with no issues arising.

Security personnel were visibly stationed around the polling units to maintain order and protect electoral materials, ensuring a peaceful voting process. The situation reflects a concerning trend in voter engagement within the FCT elections.
