APC Dominates FCT Elections, PDP Left with One Council

In the recent FCT elections conducted by the Independent National Electoral Commission on a Saturday, the All Progressives Congress (APC) emerged victorious in three area councils: Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC), Bwari, and Kwali, leaving the People's Democratic Party (PDP) with only Gwagwalada. Christoph Maikalangu of the APC was re-elected as chairman of AMAC, receiving 40,295 votes out of a total of 62,861 valid votes cast.

His closest rival from the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Prof. Andrew Abu, garnered 12,109 votes, while the PDP candidate received 3,398 votes.

In Bwari, Joshua Ishaku of the APC was declared the winner with 18,466 votes, defeating Prof. Moham Nurudeen Ishaku of the ADC, who received 4,254 votes.

Daniel Nuhu of the APC also won the chairmanship seat in Kwali with 17,032 votes, while Haruna Pai of the PDP finished second with 8,575 votes. The results from Abaji and Kuje were still pending at press time.
