PDP's Mohammed Kasim Wins Gwagwalada Chairmanship Election

In the Gwagwalada Area Council chairmanship election held on February 21, 2026, Mohammed Kasim of the People's Democratic Party (PDP) emerged victorious, securing a total of 22,165 votes. His opponent, Usman Yahaya from the All Progressives Congress (APC), received 17,788 votes, while Biko Umar of the Progress Grand Alliance (APGA) came in third with 1,687 votes.

The results were announced by Professor Philip Akeni, who serves as the returning officer for the election. The election was conducted across 10 wards in Gwagwalada, which include Paiko, Dobi, Gwako, Ibwa, Staff Quarters, Zuba, Ikwa, Kutunku, Gwagwalada Central, and Tunga Maje.

Following the announcement, Kasim was officially declared the winner, fulfilling all legal requirements necessary for the position.
