APC Dominates FCT Elections, Winning Five Councils

In the FCT elections conducted on February 21, 2026, the All Progressives Congress (APC) achieved a significant victory, winning five out of the six area council chairmanship positions. The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) announced that the APC won in AMAC, Bwari, Abaji, Kwali, and Kuje, while the People's Democratic Party (PDP) secured victory in Gwagwalada.

Christoph Maikalangu, the incumbent chairman of AMAC, was re-elected, having received the highest number of votes, totaling 40,295 from a valid vote count of 62,861. The African Democratic Congress (ADC) candidate, Mr.

Mose Paul, came in second with 12,109 votes, while the PDP candidate garnered 3,398 votes. The total votes cast in AMAC were 65,197, with 65,676 accredited voters.

In Kwali, Nuhu Daniel of the APC emerged as chairman-elect with 17,075 votes, defeating his closest rival, Moham Haruna Pai of the PDP, who received 8,575 votes.
