EFCC Arrests 20 Polling Agents for Vote-Buying in FCT

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) arrested 20 polling agents for vote-buying during the recent elections in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT). The arrests took place across several local government areas, including Abaji, Gwagwalada, Kuje, and Kwali.

EFCC spokesman Dele Oyewale disclosed that two suspects were apprehended in Abaji, nine in Gwagwalada, four in Kuje, and four in Kwali. The agents were caught attempting to induce voters with a substantial amount of money, totaling approximately N30 million.

The EFCC is investigating the matter further, with charges expected to be filed in court upon the conclusion of the investigation. The commission emphasized that the offenses ranged from vote-buying to obstructing electoral officials, with a total of N17,218,700 linked to the suspects.

Additionally, N13,500,000 was found in a car parked beside a polling booth in the Kwali local government area.
