Low Voter Turnout Delays Voting in FCT Polls

Voting in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) has yet to commence in several polling units, including those in Utako, Karu, and Lugbe. Officials from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) arrived at the polling units early, with the scheduled start time set for 8:30 AM.

However, by 8:33 AM, accreditation had not started, and no voters were present at polling unit 012. Similar reports emerged from polling unit 080 at Utako Primary School, where officials were ready but voting had not begun.

A noticeable lack of voters was observed across multiple polling units, including 001, 018, 019, 020, 021, 023, and 027, with no queues forming to cast ballots. Security personnel, including the Nigeria Police and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), were deployed to maintain order, but the turnout remained low as of 8:48 AM.
