INEC Urged to Ensure Integrity in FCT Elections

The Elector Hub has called on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to prioritize integrity and transparency throughout the electoral process in preparation for the 2026 FCT Area Council elections. In a press statement issued by Princess Hamman Obel, the organization highlighted the deployment of INEC's electronic collation system and the need for real-time reporting of irregularities.

The statement emphasized the importance of treating voters with respect and dignity, investigating misconduct, and maintaining public trust in the electoral process. The Elector Hub plans to deploy 53 observers across the FCT, including accredited citizen observers, to monitor pre-election, election day, and post-election activities.

The organization also urged law enforcement agencies to maintain neutrality and protect voters from intimidation and violence during the elections. Additionally, it stressed the need for political parties and candidates to adhere to electoral laws and regulations, ensuring a fair and transparent electoral process.
