Troops Arrest 15 Suspected Illegal Miners in FCT

On April 4, 2023, troops from the 176 Guard Battalion conducted an operation in the Chibiri community of Kuje Area Council, Federal Capital Territory (FCT), resulting in the arrest of 15 suspected illegal miners. The operation, which took place between 10:30 AM, aimed to disrupt illegal mining activities and curb the influx of insurgents and undocumented migrants in the area.

The suspects were reportedly engaged in mining activities in a bush area and were found in possession of fake national identification cards. Additionally, the items recovered from the suspects included three head pans, 13 mining materials, and three shovels.

The arrested individuals, believed to be from Zamfara State, are currently undergoing profiling by relevant government agencies for further investigation and action.
