FCTA Cracks Down on Illegal Adoption, Rescues Children in Nigeria

The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) has intensified efforts to combat illegal adoption practices by rescuing children from orphanages in Kagini and Bwari following concerns about welfare and irregular adoption processes. The operation, in collaboration with the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP), aims to protect children within the FCT who were reportedly brought from Benu State.

Dr. Idri Attah of the FCT Women Affairs Secretariat led the intervention, revealing that the proprietress of an orphanage fled upon officials' arrival, sparking suspicions of violating child protection laws.

The FCTA reaffirms its commitment to enforcing child rights and warns of prosecution for those found culpable.
