Federal Government Revamps Technical Education Curriculum

The Federal Government of Nigeria has introduced significant reforms in technical education to better prepare the youth for future jobs and align with global standards. The Ministry of Education announced a shift from the old certification system to a new curriculum in Federal Science Technical Colleges (FSTCs) now operating as Federal Technical Colleges (FTCs).

The new structure mandates colleges to offer a minimum of six and a maximum of ten trade courses, focusing on building strong trade competencies and reducing academic overload. This reform aims to equip young Nigerians with the necessary skills for the job market.
