Nigerian Government Reintroduces History in Education Curriculum

The Federal Government reintroduced Nigerian History as a compulsory subject in the national basic education curriculum, following a decade-long absence. Minister of Education Maruf Tunji Alausa and Minister of State Education Professor Suwaiba Sai Ahmad announced this move, attributing it to President Bola Tinubu's advocacy for educational reforms.

The inclusion of Nigerian History aims to instill patriotism and responsibility in students, shaping them into informed citizens. The new subject, Civic Heritage Studies, integrates Nigerian History and Civic Education to provide a comprehensive understanding of the nation's heritage and values.

This reintroduction aligns with the government's Renewed Hope Agenda to promote a sense of national identity among pupils.
