Nigeria Repatriates 123 Stranded Citizens from Algeria

The Federal Government of Nigeria successfully repatriated 123 stranded Nigerians from Algeria as part of a voluntary return program. This operation was coordinated by the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) and the International Organization for Migration (IOM).

The returnees arrived at Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA) in Ikeja, Lagos, aboard a Nesma Airlines flight on Monday. The group comprised 121 adults, including 112 males and nine females, as well as one female child and one male infant.

Upon arrival, NEMA officials, in collaboration with the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), conducted biometric registration and documentation to maintain proper records. The returnees received humanitarian assistance, which included food, potable water, medical screening, ambulance services, luggage handling, logistical support, and counseling services.

NEMA underscored the Federal Government's commitment to ensuring the safe, dignified, and orderly return of distressed Nigerians while supporting their reintegration into society.
