NEMA Receives 123 Nigerian Returnees from Algeria

The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) received 123 Nigerian returnees from Algeria on June 29, 2025, as part of the ongoing voluntary return program facilitated by the International Organization for Migration (IOM) in collaboration with the Federal Government of Nigeria. The group comprised 80 adult males, 14 adult females, two male children, five female children, and three infants.

Upon arrival at Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos aboard a Nesma Airlines flight, the returnees underwent biometric registration conducted by the Nigeria Immigration Service to ensure proper record-keeping and support for the reintegration process. NEMA provided immediate humanitarian assistance, including food, potable water, medical screening, and logistical support.

The agency emphasized its commitment to coordinating humanitarian interventions with relevant partners to ensure the safe and dignified return of vulnerable Nigerians.
