Federal Government Launches NiPHaST to Transform Post-harvest Systems; Boosts Food Security and Farmer Income.

The Federal Government of Nigeria has launched the Nigeria Postharvest Systems Transformation Programme (NiPHaST) to reduce food loss, increase farmer income, and enhance national food security. The initiative, introduced under President Bola Tinubu's Renewed Hope Agenda, aims to improve post-harvest handling and storage systems to cut waste and drive economic growth.

The program, announced by Minister of Agriculture and Food Security Abubakar Kyari, will prioritize household storage technology, community warehouses, cold rooms, and national silos. The initiative, part of the Nigeria Legacy Programme, is hosted in partnership with the Alliance for a Green Revolution in Africa (AGRA) in Dakar, Senegal, opening new investment opportunities in the storage value chain.
