Yahaya Yakubu Shafa Appointed Acting Chief Registrar

The Federal Judicial Service Commission has approved the appointment of Yahaya Yakubu Shafa as the Acting Chief Registrar of the Federal High Court, with the decision taken during its 98th meeting on January 22, 2026. This appointment will take effect immediately on February 17, 2026.

Yahaya Yakubu Shafa succeeds Sulaiman Amida Hassan, who has been elevated to the bench as a judge of the Federal High Court. The court emphasized the importance of a smooth transition and highlighted its commitment to maintaining efficient judicial administration.

Shafa brings 18 years of experience in the justice sector, having previously served as the Executive Secretary of the Nasarawa State Judicial Service Commission, where he contributed to judicial policy administration and institutional development. The Federal High Court expressed confidence that Shafa's expertise in court management and legal practice reform will enhance administrative operations and support faster justice delivery nationwide.

Justice Sulaiman Amida Hassan thanked the outgoing Chief Registrar for his service and welcomed Shafa to his new role.
