Fertility Foundation Offers Free IUI Treatment in Nigeria

The Fertility Foundation, founded by Olaronk Thaddeu and Ugwuek Thaddeu, is expanding its outreach to support women struggling with infertility in Nigeria as the cost of in vitro fertilization (IVF) treatment continues to rise. The foundation announced a new program to offer free intrauterine insemination (IUI) treatment to 20 Nigerian women, aiming to alleviate the financial burden associated with fertility care.

This initiative builds on the foundation's existing support, which has already sponsored IVF treatment for 50 couples across Nigeria from 2024 to 2025. The foundation's efforts come at a time when the cost of a single IVF cycle in Nigeria ranges from N1.7 million to N5 million, making it unaffordable for many low- and middle-income earners.

The foundation aims to restore hope for families facing infertility, which carries significant social consequences, including stigma and emotional distress. The initiative also seeks to draw attention to the need for broader policy discussions around reproductive healthcare access in Nigeria.
