FG Adopts Imo's OKOBI Initiative to Combat Unemployment

The Federal Government of Nigeria has officially adopted the OKOBI initiative from Imo State to address unemployment issues, as announced by Vice President Kashim Shettima during the launch of the OKOBI Student Club at Claretian University in Owerri. The initiative, represented by Rukaiya El-Rufai from the Vice President's office, emphasizes the necessity of entrepreneurship to manage the growing youth population.

It aligns with national priorities to support financial inclusion and encourage savings and investments. The initiative also aims to advance gender inclusion and support vulnerable groups, ensuring no one is left behind.

Governor Hope Uzodimma highlighted that the initiative is designed to stimulate economic growth and foster self-reliance among communities. With a focus on creating job opportunities, the OKOBI initiative has already led to the establishment of 600 business initiatives that created 20,000 jobs.

The program is part of a broader strategy to improve Nigeria's global human capital index by 2030 and is endorsed by IH Nigeria, which supports community-driven business development.
