Imo State Disburses Capital to 900 Agribusiness Incubatees

The Federal Government of Nigeria (FGN), in collaboration with the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) and the Imo State Government, supported by the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD), launched the LIFE-ND Project, disbursing starter capital to 900 agribusiness incubatees in Imo State. The flag-off ceremony occurred in Owerri on Tuesday, with Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma expressing satisfaction with the initiative, which aims to enhance income, food security, and job creation.

The project specifically targets youth aged 18-35 and women, particularly female heads of households, providing essential tools and capital grants to empower them in agribusiness. Victoria Igboanugo, the project coordinator, emphasized the importance of proper fund usage and mentorship for the incubatees.

The initiative also aims to reduce crime in the region and promote sustainable agricultural development across nine Niger Delta states, including Abia, Bayelsa, and Akwa Ibom.
