Nigerian Passports to be Issued Within One Week After Application, Government Announces

The Federal Government of Nigeria has announced that passports will now be ready within one week after application, following a major reform in the issuance process. The Minister of Interior, Olubunmi, revealed this at a performance retreat in Abuja, stating that the aim is to deliver every Nigerian passport within one week to reflect the integrity of the nation.

The system inherited a six-month backlog, but has now been streamlined to clear passports within two and a half weeks. The Minister emphasized the need for a faster and more efficient passport process to avoid delays and inefficiencies.
