FG Commits to Timely Release of Police Operational Funds

The Federal Government of Nigeria has assured the timely release of operational funds for the Nigerian Police Force to address growing security concerns across the country. This commitment was articulated in a press statement issued on Monday by the Director of Press, Public Relations Office, Bawa Mokwa, following a meeting with key officials including Dr.

Shamseldeen Ogunjimi and Inspector General of Police Olatunji Disu in Abuja. Ogunjimi emphasized the government's readiness to ensure that approved funds are released promptly to enable the police to effectively tackle insecurity.

He linked the need for sustained funding to the upcoming off-season governorship elections scheduled for June to August 2026, stressing that adequate financial support is crucial for the police to fulfill their constitutional responsibilities. The Inspector General of Police, Olatunji Disu, also appealed for the immediate release of pending funds to support police activities nationwide, highlighting that inadequate funding could undermine critical security operations.
