FG Begins Appointment Process For Five Permanent Secretaries

The Federal Government has initiated the appointment process for five new Permanent Secretaries in the civil service. A memo from the Office of the Head of Civil Service of the Federation outlined the criteria for eligible candidates, including being a Director at Grade Level 17 in the Federal Civil Service with a minimum of two years of service.

Candidates must also provide proof of indigeneship of the state where the vacancy exists. Female applicants who acquired indigeneship through marriage must also meet certain requirements.

Serving Permanent Secretaries are required to confirm the eligibility of applicants and ensure they are free from any pending disciplinary actions. The deadline for submission of required documents is August 12, 2025.

Since President Bola Tinubu took office, fewer than 26 Permanent Secretaries have been appointed to fill vacancies in the federal civil service.
