Nigeria Enhances Medicine Security with International Partners

The Federal Government of Nigeria, represented by Dr. Iziak Adekunle Salako, the Minister of State for Health and Social Welfare, is collaborating with Caring Cross, a U.S.-based non-governmental organization, and other international partners to enhance medicine security and healthcare innovation.

During a meeting in Abuja, Dr. Salako reaffirmed the commitment of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's administration to strengthen scientific capacity and leverage new technologies to improve treatment access for Nigerians.

He highlighted the importance of the healthcare sector in driving economic growth and employment through evidence-based policies and practices. The collaboration aims to catalyze health security and transform the pharmaceutical sector, with a focus on innovative treatments such as chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T-cell therapy.

Dr. Salako noted that many people in Africa are deprived of new innovative treatments due to a lack of engagement and resources.

The meeting was described as a critical step towards a new era of scientific impact on health policy and innovation.
