FG Directs MDAs on Procurement Act for Budget Compliance

The Federal Government of Nigeria has mandated that all Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) adhere strictly to the provisions of the Public Procurement Act during the implementation of the 2025 and 2026 capital budgets. This directive was issued by Mr.

Dori Uzoka, the Minister of State for Finance, during a stakeholders' meeting held at the Federal Ministry of Finance in Abuja. He emphasized that capital payments must comply with the principles of the procurement act, warning that no capital payment processes should occur outside the approved procurement procedures.

Dr. Shamseldeen Babatund Ogunjimi disclosed that 30 percent of the 2025 capital budget will be implemented by November 31, 2026, with the remaining 70 percent rolling into the 2026 capital budget.

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has already issued a warrant for MDAs to commence the implementation of 30 percent of the 2025 budget by the end of the following week. Mr.

Steve Ehikhamenor cautioned MDAs to avoid budget overruns and adhere strictly to approved project items.
