BPP Reports N1.1 Trillion Savings from Procurement Reforms

The Bureau of Public Procurement (BPP) reported that procurement reforms implemented from January to December 2025 resulted in savings of N1.1 trillion for the Federal Government. This disclosure was made by the Director General, Mr.

Adebowale Adedokun, during the presentation of the agency's 2026 budget proposal to the Senate Committee on Public Procurement in Abuja. The BPP attributed the cost savings to shorter contract approval timelines and stricter sanctions against errant contractors and non-compliant government officials.

Adedokun emphasized the necessity for increased budgetary allocation in 2026 to improve service delivery, support job creation, and strengthen the bureau's oversight capacity. He announced the introduction of a new community-based procurement framework aimed at enhancing oversight of projects within constituencies.

The reforms received approval from President Bola Tinubu, and Mr. Olajide Ipinsagba, the Chairman of the Senate Committee on Public Procurement, acknowledged the importance of the BPP's strategies in promoting fiscal discipline and socio-economic development.
