BPE Saves Nigeria Over N1.1 Trillion in Procurement Reforms

The Bureau of Public Procurement (BPE) disclosed that it saved the Federal Government of Nigeria over N1.1 trillion through procurement reforms from January 1 to December 31, 2025. This announcement was made by the Director General, Adebowale Adedokun, while defending the agency's budget estimates for the 2026 fiscal year before the Senate Committee on Public Procurement.

The reforms not only resulted in significant financial savings but also reduced the time required for government contract approvals and enhanced sanctions against contractors and government officials. The BPE received a total budget allocation of N4.032 billion for 2025, which is aimed at combating corruption, a hallmark of President Bola Tinubu's administration.

Senate Committee Chairman Olajide Ipinsagba emphasized the importance of the Bureau in socio-economic development and its role in ensuring efficient management of allocated funds.
