FG Praises Successful WAEC 2026 Examination Conduct

The Federal Government of Nigeria commended the smooth and credible conduct of the 2026 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE), organized by the West African Examinations Council (WAEC). The Minister of State for Education, Professor Suwaiba Ahmad, expressed satisfaction during a monitoring exercise in Abuja, where she observed the CBT model implemented at selected centers.

She noted that students navigated the digital platform effectively, with no significant technical disruptions reported. A total of 1,959,636 candidates registered for the examination, comprising 958,564 males and 1,001,072 females, reflecting a notable increase in female participation compared to previous years.

Approximately 29,000 schools across the country registered candidates for the examination. Professor Ahmad emphasized the government's commitment to a gradual transition to a fully digital examination system, ensuring that no region is left behind in infrastructure development.

Mr. Patrick Dangut, head of WAEC Nigeria, also acknowledged the collaboration between the federal government, state authorities, and school administrators in ensuring the examination's smooth execution.
