Federal Government Launches 10 MedServe Centres Nationwide

The Federal Government has commissioned 10 MedServe diagnostic centres across Nigeria and announced plans for a significant infrastructure upgrade at the University College Hospital (UCH) in Ibadan. This was disclosed by the Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Prof. Muhammad Ali Pate, during the commissioning of the UCH centre, part of the Federal Government’s healthcare infrastructure programme through the Nigeria Sovereign Investment Authority (NSIA).
Pate noted that these centres, along with six cancer centres, are part of 16 major health projects approved by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in February 2024. He confirmed that three cancer centres are completed, with three more under construction.
The government aims to enhance UCH's infrastructure, addressing health worker shortages and improving compensation. Prof. Taiwo Oyedele, Minister of Finance, emphasized reducing reliance on overseas medical treatment through expanded local healthcare services.
The International Finance Corporation's Olivier Buyoya mentioned a $24 million commitment to support MedServe's healthcare expansion.
