Nigeria to Launch Medical Simulation Centres Nationwide

The Nigerian government, under the leadership of Minister of Education Dr. Maruf Tunji Alausa, has announced plans to establish world-class medical simulation centres across the six geopolitical zones of Nigeria. This initiative aims to enhance training opportunities for medical, dental, nursing, pharmacy, and allied healthcare students.

Dr. Alausa made this announcement while receiving the report from the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund) medical simulation committee, emphasizing its alignment with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda to expand the healthcare workforce. He noted a significant increase in nursing enrolment from about 38,000 to over 120,000 students and a rise in medical school admissions from approximately 5,000 to nearly 12,000 since President Tinubu took office.

The goal is to increase annual medical student enrolment to about 20,000 within the next three years. Dr. Alausa commended the efforts of Dr. Wale Suleiman and other committee members for their contributions to this initiative.
