Nigerian Air Force Conducts Airstrike on Borno Terrorists

On April 11, 2023, the Federal Government of Nigeria confirmed that the Nigerian Air Force conducted an intelligence-led airstrike in the Jilli Axi area of Gubio Local Government, Borno State. The operation, described as precise, targeted terrorist positions and aimed to disrupt the logistics network of insurgents in the volatile northeast corridor.

The airstrike reportedly resulted in numerous casualties, with the government expressing deep condolences to affected families. The operation was coordinated with ground forces and followed the arrest of a 15-year-old ISWAP courier, Tijjani Ngamdu, who allegedly admitted to transporting funds for insurgents.

The government reiterated its commitment to counter-terrorism, highlighting the importance of minimizing civilian harm and the need for public cooperation in conflict-affected areas. Additionally, it noted the recent conviction of 386 individuals related to terrorism, demonstrating ongoing legal efforts against insurgent networks.
