Nigeria's Government Advocates Innovative Housing Solutions

On a recent occasion in Abuja, Minister of Housing and Urban Development, Ahm Dangiwa, highlighted the inadequacy of conventional building technologies in delivering affordable housing to Nigerians, particularly for the middle-class workforce. He emphasized the need to adopt innovative materials and technologies to meet housing demands.

During a meeting with Sinoma Nigeria Company Ltd, Dangiwa discussed potential partnerships to explore eco-friendly, fire-resistant, and water-resistant building materials. He stressed the government's commitment to ensuring that low and middle-income Nigerians achieve home ownership within their working lifetime.

The minister noted that conventional construction methods have proven insufficient for the scale of housing required. The government is open to new construction technologies that have been effectively demonstrated.

Dangiwa also mentioned plans to promote manufacturing hubs for building materials across Nigeria to support housing delivery and reduce costs. Partnerships with the private sector, including public-private partnerships, are encouraged to enhance housing development.
