FG Partners with Integrated Dairies to Boost Dairy Production

The Federal Government of Nigeria, represented by the Honourable Minister of Livestock Development, Idi Mukhtar Maiha, is committed to strengthening partnerships with private sector entities to enhance dairy breed improvement and local milk production. During a meeting with Integrated Dairies Limited (IDL), discussions focused on expanding dairy breeding programs, supporting pastoral livelihoods, and reducing dependence on imported dairy genetics.

IDL management presented its expansion plans and requested additional land for operations. The company has made significant strides in its breeding program, producing high-performing F1 dairy breeds with improved milk yields and conception rates.

The expansion aims to establish breeding hubs, create jobs, and improve the livelihoods of pastoral communities. The meeting also addressed proposals for strengthening Artificial Insemination (AI) and Embryo Transfer (ET) programs.

Maiha praised IDL as a leading indigenous dairy enterprise and emphasized the importance of community engagement and sustainable business models in transforming Nigeria's livestock sector.
