FG Denies Cyberattack on Education Data Platform

The Federal Ministry of Education, represented by Director of Press and Public Relations Folasad Boriowo, issued a statement on Tuesday dismissing reports of a cyberattack on the National Education Management Information System (NEMIS). The ministry characterized these claims as inaccurate and misleading, asserting that at no time was the NEMIS platform hacked or compromised.

The statement clarified that a temporary issue related to the SSL (Secure Socket Layer) certificate configuration at the host level did not constitute a security breach or unauthorized access to data. The ministry emphasized that this technical issue was promptly resolved by their technical team in collaboration with the hosting service provider, restoring normal operations.

Furthermore, the ministry highlighted that browser security warnings related to the SSL certificate should not be misconstrued as evidence of a cyberattack or data breach. They assured stakeholders that robust security measures are in place to safeguard the platform and that it remains a critical digital resource for managing education data nationwide.
