FG Denies Cyber Attack on NEMIS, Ensures Data Security

The Federal Ministry of Education in Nigeria has officially disclaimed reports suggesting that the National Education Management Information System (NEMIS) was compromised by a cyber attack. The ministry categorically stated that the platform's security and data integrity are fully intact.

It clarified that the reports were inaccurate and misleading, emphasizing that there was no breach or unauthorized access to the system. The ministry explained that a temporary issue related to the SSL (Secure Socket Layer) certificate configuration at the host level affected the platform's security access but was purely technical in nature.

The technical team worked with the hosting service provider to resolve the issue promptly, restoring normal operations. The ministry urged media organizations and the public to refrain from disseminating unverifiable information that could undermine public confidence in government digital platforms.

Folasade Boriowo, the Director of Press and Public Relations, reiterated the commitment to maintaining high standards of information security within the digital governance framework.
